District Mission Statement
Dewitt Public Schools' staff promotes a learning environment that focuses on the whole child. The district offers courses and programs that help each student advance in their knowledge and develop life-long learning skills that will help them as they grow and develop and will help them tomorrow as they succeed as an adult.

Students entering the district in kindergarten attend the kindergarten center where the focus is on creating a successful start to school learning. Elementary students, in addition to core academics, have classes in computer technology, foreign language, music, art, and physical education. Throughout the day they interact with students close to their own age in grade-level buildings, located at three sites. Building sites include grades 1-2 at Schavey Road Elementary, grades 3-4 at Scott Elementary School, and grades 5-6 at Herbison Woods School.

Two buildings serve students at the secondary level, grades 7-8 are served at the district's junior high and grades 9-12 at the high school. Students learn in environments where they are encouraged to continue to question, apply knowledge, and continue to develop skills that will serve them well as life long learners. They participate in a block schedule, attending four core courses each day, where they continue to develop critical thinking skills and have opportunities for in-depth studies in the content areas. In all buildings, students gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter.
